A New Season, A New Blog Post

Well, here is a new blog post, and it took my dad standing over my shoulder to get me to write one. So, you can all thank -- or blame -- him for this new discussion on all things Mad Ants. Let's get right to the meat: Friday's game.

I thought it was a great night for the Mad Ants organization. From the game operations to the play on the court, I think there has been few nights better than that one. Turning to the hoops, I don't see how Mad Ants fans are not excited about what they see from our team this season. I thought our veterans were very good, and I think our newcomers added a lot of energy and fine execution to get us the win.

The Ants led the game the entire time, but let Sioux Falls come back and make it close in the end. I think two things led to that -- first, the Skyforce are a much improved team, and, second, those types of lapses occur in the first game of the season. In fact, I think the first game is always the toughest to win, and we now have that taken care of.

I am very excited about this team and the level of talent on it right now. If we can shore up some of the simple defensive mistakes that we were making which gave the Skyforce far too many easy baskets, we will be a stout defensive team.

So, back to the blogging for me, and I hope back to visiting us for every game at the Coliseum for you readers who are able to do so.

  1. I agree. I think we played really well. And, high five to rookie (and starter), Cameron Jones. Excited to get the rest of the season on it's way.

    Good job, Ants!!

  3. Matt said,

I like the concessions too. The game was great, but I wasn't as crazy about some of the other pregame things that to me the Ants are good at. The pregame movie is awful to say the least and some of the other things done during the game have gone downhill to me. Now, don't get me wrong. I'd much rather have a good team and the team is good. It's just we can't go backwards in the things we were good at before. If it didn't bother anyone else than I guess it's just me. Jerr Dog is still very solid in his job.

I'm very disappointed, and this is my Ants' pride coming out, that the Canton Charge have the same colors as the Ants. GRRRRRR!!!

  4. pregame video was lame and the cheerleaders , i mean the dancers arent very diverse to use a politicaly correct term and i didnt notice any handout at the entrance. and ace is still shouting into his mic which means i can only understand a third of what he says! course im an old fart too!

  6. Complainerville, USA around here- Good Lord. All the important issues as well, like too many of one skin color on the dance team? Are you serious?...look within yourself if thats the first thing you notice and are bitching about.

Can i just give props to the guy or guys who scouted and took a chance on Cameron Jones. I questioned that draft pick but he might be the real deal. Thanks for a great time at the opener.

  7. I think the pregame video was hilarious. Especially, if you know the players and their personalities, it makes it even funnier.

When I got to the game, there were all kinds of handouts being distributed.

Randy posts all of his pictures on his blog. It's http://jackrv01.blogspot.com/. Maybe check with him and see if you can purchase pictures from him, or "steal" them from his blog and send to Target or Walgreens.

I agree...Cameron Jones is going to do big things if he keeps playing like he has been. I think Tory Jackson will too especially after he gets some experience playing on a D-League team.

    Game 4 Wednesday night...Go Ants!!!!

  8. The pregame video SUCKS. It should be to get the crowd fired up not to make them turn away in horror of the stupidity on the screen. There are so many brainless, stupid things on TV etc, do we need more of it at an Ants game?

The TinCaps and the Komets do things right. Let's take a page out of their books and do so as well. Because let's face it, they have the crowds. I with the one person who said the Ants used to a have a great in-game experience even if the the team wasn't doing well. Let's not go backwards in that department is what was said. I agree wholeheartedly.

The Ants are already largely thought of as a joke. Let's not put a bullseye and make things worse. The thing is the product is great win or lose so please entertainment crew, step it up and get to the level you used to be at.

  9. Wow what a post! The Komets may do things right, but their prices to me are what SUCKS! I can't afford their games. :(

  10. The pregame video is fine. I wish it was a little more to firing the crowd up. You know, louder.

Tory Jackson is an issue right now as his shooting is a mess.

  11. I think that a lot of fans underestimate the pre-planning, coordination, money and time it takes to make the game time experience what it is. The players make the games but I believe that the game ops is what makes fans keep coming back and the season ticket holders to keep renewing. Heidi and her team don't even get to watch the game because they are planning for the next game stop, halftime and timeout. The Mad Ants Mascot makes the game a fun and interactive experience for the kids and adults. The opening video makes it comfortable and fun for everyone...maybe they will switch it up...it has only been 2 home games. The pictures that the photographer takes are used for all kinds of reasons. There may not have been a demand for them. When people have ideas I am sure that they are open to hearing them.

The Fort Wayne Mad Ants seem to always have the game play and then the community and family inolvement level in mind in everything they do.

Never forget that the more tickets they sell...the better the budget and the more awesome opportunities for Game Ops expansion.

I will be there on Friday!
