Rough Start
Oliver Lafayette began his European career the other night in Kaunas, Lithuania when his Partizan Belgrade team took on Zalgiris. It was not a good start. In 18 minutes, Oliver scored 5 points on 1-10 shooting, had 3 rebounds, and tallied 2 assists as his team lost by a score of 73-62. It was obviously not the start O would have hoped for, but I think it will get much better as he gets more time in Europe and more time in the league. Here is what his coach stated after the game: "In play of our new play maker Lafayette we could clearly see that he was only two days with us and that he has not yet entered into the system of attack and defense, some mistakes that we have made happened for that reason, among other reasons, but it's not his fault, given a brief period he spent with us." I am anxious to see what he does the next time on the court once he gets his legs under him. I am sure he will do much better.
